Shropshire artist Anna Roberts is working on two designs depicting the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway which once passed through Welshpool town centre.

The project has been the dream of Welshpool resident Alan Crowe who has raised funds himself.

Mr Crowe recruited Ms Roberts for the project after seeing a train mural of the Cambrian Railways which she had created in Oswestry two years ago.

She has already completed work on the first mural on the end wall of Derek's Plaice in Church Street.

And a second mural is due to be added later this month.

and support was also been received from local businesses.

The plan for murals is that they will be used as part of a scheme to create a Town Trail along the entire route that the train took through the town.

Mr Crowe is now looking for photos of the original light railway train in the town. Anyone with any pictures can contact him on 07782 166342.
