Bid to trace men over bike thefts at Wellington train station
British Transport Police today released these images of two men they would like to speak to in relation to bike thefts at Wellington train station.
The BTP appealed to the public for its help over the thefts on August 9 and 13. The first bike stolen was a silver coloured Carrera Vengeance mountain bike, while the bike stolen on August 13 was a red coloured Rockhopper mountain bike with the Rockhopper logo in white.
Constable Kirk Smith, who is the investigating officer, said: "On both occasions, the victims had secured their cycles in the racks at Wellington station.
"But they discovered that their bikes had been stolen when they returned to collect them.
"Inquiries have been ongoing to find those responsible for the thefts and I am now releasing these images in the hope that someone will be able to identify the men pictured as I believe they will have key information," added the officer.
"I would ask anyone who recognises the men to contact BTP straight away."
Both men are described as being white, between 5ft 10in and 6ft and of average build.
One man was wearing shorts, flip flops and a peaked cap or baseball cap on both occasions.
The second man was wearing a white top which had a print logo on the front and he was also carrying a rucksack.
