Whitchurch Civic Centre's £1.6m revamp to start soon
Work on the £1.6 million revamp of Whitchurch Civic Centre will begin in less than two weeks.
Contractors will start work on phase one of the refurbishment on September 23 and hope to finish by the middle of February.
The first part of the work will include making improvements to the front of the 1970s building and its foyer.
Phase two will include work on the interior and Whitchurch Town Council is currently applying for funding.
It is hoped that the centre will be fully open by March 1 and rooms will be available for booking from that date. Councillor Rob Hewson, mayor of Whitchurch, has welcomed the start of building work.
The council's office will close at 5pm on Thursday and will reopen in the Heritage Centre in St Mary's Street on September 19.
