The area was cleared and the road reopened within an hour.

Chris Kowalik, a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "The man was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and was complaining about back, leg and arm pain, although there were no fractures. We had a rapid response vehicle and ambulance on the scene."

Chris Ammonds, spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "The road was blocked for a while but thankfully there do not appear to have been any serious injuries or damage."
