Mourners have been asked by her family to wear pink or colourful clothing to the service, which will take place at St Peter's Church in the town at noon.

Pink was the five-year-old's favourite colour.

The funeral cortege will leave April's home on the Bryn y Gog estate and a horse and carriage will carry her coffin.

Her family say everyone is welcome to attend the funeral service. A strictly private burial will then follow for close family and friends only.

April was abducted and killed by Mark Bridger, 47, of Ceinws, near Machynlleth, in October last year.

A minute's silence will be held in Welshpool to coincide with her funeral in Machynlleth. Welshpool resident Cheryl Wittingham has asked people to gather outside Welshpool Town Hall on Thursday at 12.30pm for the tribute.

Despite one of the biggest search operations in police history, April's body has never been found.
