Letter: Roads are neglected

I recently read that Shropshire Council was going ahead with some road improvements in the Shrewsbury area and spending a lot of money doing it.

That may be necessary for the area and good for Shrewsbury and anyone travelling through there, but what about other areas in Shropshire?

I reside in Shifnal these days but have resided in the Shrewsbury prior to that. It seems to me that we have been forgotten over this way for whatever reason.

In the last two years or so if I compared it with two years of living in Shrewsbury, for its size, Shifnal must have one of the worst traffic problems in this area.

I gather that in the past, a link road or bypass was going to be constructed, but the plans were aborted for whatever reason. Can anyone shed any light on this? If its down to money and funds how come it can be found and spent elsewhere?

A bypass is badly needed to take a lot of the traffic, some of it heavy agriculture type vehicles away from our town centre.

We have a car park and roads in bad need of repair too, perhaps if there is any money left over from the Council Christmas party can they see their way to investing in some tarmac perhaps?
