She may have sold millions of records across the world  but singer-songwriter Joss Stone found herself taking on a rather different role on a visit to Shropshire.

The soul and R&B singer agreed to be a guest judge at a dog show in Condover, near Shrewsbury, after being approached by organisers.

And she proved up to the task at yesterday's event – picking the best in show and chatting to some of the estimated 400 people who turned out at the Victoria Stilwell Dog Training Centre in the village.

The centre was opened in January by dog behaviourist Emma Collings, who trained the singer's dogs and invited her to attend.

Michelle Seeney, events co-ordinator at the centre on Berriewood Farm, said: "I jokingly said to Emma one day that she should ask Joss Stone to come along and be a judge and Emma went and asked her and she said she'd love to. So, as you can imagine, we were over the moon."

Ms Seeney said the singer did an excellent job and the proceeds from the event will go to Help for Heroes.
