Whithurch boat rally proves a winner
Boat enthusiasts flocked to the county for an annual rally on the Shropshire Union Canal.
The event took place on the canal arm at Chemistry in Whitchurch on Saturday and Sunday in support of Whitchurch Waterway Trust.
On display were a collection of historic narrow boats from the boat museum at Ellesmere Port which people were able to browse.
There was also a decorated boat competition which had a Roman theme to celebrate the town's past, while local ceilidh band Jigsmith played throughout the weekend.
Lindsay Green, one of the organisers of the event, said: "The whole weekend has gone really well.
"Everyone had a whale of a time and we've also seen some familiar faces from last year. One couple travelled on their boat from Lancashire last year and they enjoyed it so much that despite not doing a lot of boating they drove all the way down this year which is amazing.
"The weather has been absolutely glorious and we've had so many people. Everything has gone really well." Alongside the boats visitors could also browse a variety of stalls and take part in a fun dog show organised by staff at Whitchurch-based Leonard Brothers Veterinary Practice.
Mrs Green said: "We had 18 different stalls selling crafts, cards and lots of tasty food like bacon and steak baps.
"Because Whitchurch is a Roman town we decided that the theme of the best decorated boat competition should be Romans.
"That proved very popular and the winners were Iain MacTavish and Clair Butler.
"Jigsmith played through the whole weekend and were absolutely fantastic. You could see that everyone was enjoying themselves."
