Daniel Lee Kinnon, 36, of Crewe admitted being drunk and disorderly in Whitchurch High Street, where he shouted at police officers "Go on arrest me now" and "What do I have to do? Headbutt you?"

Kinnon was consequently arrested and appeared at Telford Magistrates' Court yesterday where he was fined £60 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and £20 surcharge.

Prosecuting, Mrs Kate Price said Kinnon came to the attention of police who were already in High Street when he tried to get into the Red Lion pub on the evening of August 30.

"The officers told him to go home but he kept trying to enter the pub. He began arguing with two girls he was with.

"He continued to shout and police removed him from the other people in the street by leading him away but he became aggressive.

"He shouted at officers 'All you've got to do is arrest me. What do I have to do? Headbutt you?' And made headbutting gestures towards the police."

She summarised 17 pages of previous convictions which dated back to 1994 and included burglaries, thefts, shoplifting, being drunk and disorderly, drug possession and assault.

Mr Steven Skully, for Kinnon, said he had not been in trouble with the law since February 2012 and was on the right track before he got himself involved in the matter in the High Street which resulted in him coming to the attention of police.

"He is in a secure relationship with his partner who is six months pregnant with their first child," he said.

He said Kinnon was trying to explain an argument between two of his friends to police but was drunk and it had not come across well.

Chairman of magistrates John Whalley said he would deal with the offence with a £60 fine. He said: "You have a full and comprehensive career of nuisance crime but you are going to be a father now and we think you need to act a bit more responsibly.

"If you carry on acting the way you are, you are going to be a poor role model to your child."
