School evacuated as fire breaks out
Pupils had to be evacuated from a boarding school on the Shropshire border after a small fire broke out in a computer room.
Fire crews from Clun and Leintwardine were called to Bedstone College, in Bucknell, near Ludlow, in the early hours of yesterday.
No-one was hurt but it left the school, which has boarders aged 11 to 18, without internet or e-mail capacity yesterday.
Headmaster David Gajadharsingh said: "We would like to offer our sincere thanks to the fire service for their calm professionalism, and to all boarding staff and students for ensuring the safe evacuation of all.
"I am so pleased that our emergency procedures have proved to be robust and that the safety of all residential students and staff was not compromised."
Fire crews were called out at 1.30am and left shortly after 2am.
