The accident happened close to Bayston Hill, with a member of the public calling police to alert them to the scene just before 6am this morning.

Motorists faced delays tailbacks along the A49 through the rush-hour period this morning, with the BMW 320 partially blocking the road.

Police directed traffic as they waited for the vehicle to be recovered.

Richard Ewels, a spokesman for West Mercia Police, said the two occupants of the car were both taken to hospital with minor injuries.
