Model train enthusiasts steam into Telford
Exhibitors from across the region steamed into Telford for an annual model railway exhibition.
A wealth of models depicting imagined scenes and real stretches of railway were on show – including a meticulous recreation of Wellington railway station during the glory days of steam.
The exhibition was held at the Blessed Robert Johnson school in Wellington on Saturday.
It was the first time the Telford Railway Modellers Group had used the venue, although the third year they have staged the show.
Those taking part included Martin Rich, from Welshpool, who brought along his circuit The Bumf Mine, which featured two levels and depicted a paper factory at work.
He said: "I've been working on it for about six months and it is especially for show.
Mr Rich said he also uses shows like this to see what other modellers had been up to.
"The one I really like is Wellington," he said. "They have put a lot of work into it."
The Wellington Station model was described by organisers as the real crowd-puller. It was made by David Amias, who was brought up in Dawley but now lives in Wolverhampton. Saturday's show was the first time it had been out to an exhibition in years.
Mr Amias said: "People have really enjoyed recognising the station they know.
"So much has changed at the station, but people still recognise it. It is a big nostalgia exercise as well as a fun thing with the railway."
