Henry Stanhope planted some 3,000 seeds which more than tripled in his field at Ryton Farm, Dorrington. The 15-year-old entrepreneur is hoping to make a tidy profit this year as he expands his operation in his grandfather's field

It is the second year he has harvested the vegetables.

The Wrekin College pupil has planted the seeds on a field belonging to his grandfather John Cartwright and this year is producing three different varieties of pumpkin – Harvest Moon, Jack O'Lantern and Magical.

Henry said: "We planted about 3,000 seeds but they all went on to produce two to three more pumpkins as well.

"The weather has been brilliant this year, especially the warm weather, because we can use irrigation techniques if it gets dry.

"We are hoping to sell to family-run businesses including Cambers Countrystore, in Harley, near Much Wenlock, and Shawbury Garden Centre.

"We have also grown potatoes, onions and swedes this year."

Henry's mother Kait Stanhope said he first harvested the pumpkins for a bit pocket money but added he was now starting to make more money out of his profitable business.
