Wellington Town Council will work with Telford & Wrekin Council to repair The Bowring Park Pavilion, which was gutted by fire in July 2012.

The two councils are looking to share the costs of a refurbishment, expected to be up to £90,000, with the restored building expected to re-open by April next year.

The new scheme is set to expand the existing pavillion, with new toilets and a larger cafeteria, possibly extended by external decking.

Following the completion of the pavilion, the town council plans to lease the building from the borough council and then to reopen the new cafeteria to the public.

Telford & Wrekin Council plans to fund its half of the developer contributions, while Wellington Town Council is planning to raise a mortgage for its half of the funding.

The town council does not plan to raise its precept to cover the mortgage repayments, but says it can service the loan from its exisiting resources.

A drop in session will be held for the public to look at the plans, between 3.30pm and 6.30pm on Thursday October 31 in Lesley's Room at the Wellington Civic & Leisure Centre.

Councillor Liz Clare, cabinet member for Leisure Services and Culture, said: "We intend to completely restore the building and put a cafe and toilets in it so that the park has a fantastic public facility."

Councillor Graham Riley, the mayor of Wellington, said: "The reopening of this facility is badly needed by the users of Bowring Park."
