The nine laptops are worth more than £1,500 and intruders also caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to an office owned by County Training on Stafford Park One.

The organisation, which deals with people attempting to get back into work, today insisted that personal details of clients are safe.

The theft happened last Thursday but details were only released today.

Liz Harding, social inclusion manager at County Training said: "The offices were broken into sometime on Thursday night and we are working with the police who are investigating the incident.

Nine laptops were taken, although they were all encrypted with the appropriate security systems in place so no personal data is at risk."

Police are unsure if the raiders broke in or managed to access the premises during the day.

Chris Ammonds, of West Mercia Police said: "An investigation is ongoing into the burglary. It is possible that the intruder entered the building earlier in the day and waited until the offices were empty.

"We would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious or may know the whereabouts of the stolen items to get in touch," he added.

Anyone with information about the break in should call 101 and quote incident number 106S181013.
