Neville Gwilt, 29, appeared at Welshpool Magistrates Court after admitting possession of 14.79g of cocaine, 2g of cannabis and breaching a community order. He had previously admitted the charges but appeared back at the court for sentencing.

In addition to the suspended sentence Gwilt, of Dolgwenith, Llanidloes, was also given a 12-month supervision order with probation and a drug rehabilitation order.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and an £80 victim surcharge. Mrs Helen Tench, prosecuting, said Gwilt was arrested in Newtown on June 23 and strip-searched by police, who found the 14.79g of cocaine, a street value of £739.50, hidden between his buttocks.

Mrs Tench said: "Gwilt then told officers that any drugs found at his home belonged to him and after a search they found 2g of cannabis valued at £20."

The court also heard that Gwilt had breached an outstanding community order on two occasions due to work commitments, for which he had failed to provide evidence.

Miss Ceri Edwards, for Gwilt, said her client had already referred himself to a drug and alcohol charity and was looking for a fresh start.
