Stephen Meredith, 60, appeared at Welshpool Magistrates Court where he admitted four charges relating to indecent images of children.

Mrs Helen Tench, prosecuting, said that as a registered sex offender, police officers were making a routine check at Meredith's home at the Old Creamery, Four Crosses, near Welshpool, on May 2.

When they entered the home, Meredith told them he had "something on my computer that's not good".

Mrs Tench said: "Officers sent the computer off for examination and under interview the defendant said he was 'weak-willed' and had nothing else in his life."

She said that he had also made a number of obscene searches on internet search engines. Indecent images of children are rated between levels one and five, with five being the most serious.

Meredith admitted a charge of making a level three image on May 2 at Four Crosses; making an indecent image of level four on the same date in Four Crosses and making an image of level one between January 1 and May 2, also in Four Crosses. He also admitted possessing indecent images of children ranging between levels one and four on May 2 at Four Crosses.

Miss Ceri Edwards, for Meredith, said he had admitted the charges at the earliest opportunity. The case was adjourned to Mold Crown Court for sentencing on November 14.

Magistrates warned Meredith he is facing jail and he was given conditional bail until then.
