Chance to win a Doctor Who T-shirt at Oswestry exhibition

Like any child Nigel Thomas watched Doctor  Who as an adventure television programme, or as he put it, with 'half an eye'.

But in his mid-teens Mr Thomas, 48, from Gobowen, began to develop a fascination for the BBC show and now believes he has watched every single episode.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show Mr Thomas has created caricatures of all 11 actors that took on the role, now displayed in the Powis Hall indoor market in Oswestry.

He is running a competition for Doctor Who fans to identify phrases written around his images of Doctor Who, and say which storyline they are taken from.

The winner will be able to choose their favourite caricature and have it printed on a T-shirt.

Mr Thomas said: "I started watching Doctor Who when I was six or seven but it wasn't until about 1981, when John Pertwee was the doctor, that I really took and interest."

"I decided to do the caricatures to use as my 'avatar' on social network for each month of this year and then thought about putting them on public display."

He said that all the Doctor Who actors were good.

"If I had to choose a favourite it would be a toss up between David Tenant and Tom Baker – although arguably Patrick Troughton was the best actor," he said.

Visitors to the indoor market, open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturday should write their answers on a postcard or sealed down envelope with their T-shirt size, small, medium, large or extra large and their address and send it to: David Clough, Doctor Who T-Shirt Competition, The Guildhall, Oswestry, Shropshire, SY11 1PZ. The closing date for entries is 23rd November 2013.
