Combine harvester destroyed after catching fire

A combine harvester was destroyed after catching fire on farmland on the Shropshire border.

It happened in Whitewell, near Whitchurch just after 12.30pm yesterday.

Firefighters from Whitchurch attended and said it took them about 45 minutes to get it under control.

Graham Field, from Whitchurch Fire Station, said: "It happened in a field opposite Whitewell Lodge.

"It was cutting maize at the time. The gentleman said the next thing he knew it was on fire. It was totally destroyed.

"It was possibly caused by an electrical fault."
