County's autumn glory leaves us breathless
Autumn is in now in its full glory in Shropshire – as these stunning pictures from around the county show.[gallery]
And while parts of Britain are still recovering from the St Jude storm, Shropshire is still looking as pretty as a picture.
The snaps, taken by Shropshire Star photographer Ian Sheppard, show just how beautiful the county can be.
The pictures of the colourful autumn leaves carpeting the floor and the luscious red berries were taken in woodland around Colemere, near Ellesmere, while the stunning double rainbow brightened up the sky over Castlefields in Shrewsbury on Sunday.
A tranquil scene has also been captured in Market Drayton, the sun shining on an overhanging tree as a barge travels along the Shropshire Union Canal.
The man on the barge could barely have a care in the world.
Mr Sheppard said: "I had gone down to the weir in Shrewsbury to see if I could get any pictures of the salmon leaping into the air but I didn't have much luck.
"I thought I'd stick around for a while and then I saw the two rainbows form so thought it would make a good picture."
Walk
Ian spotted the autumnal carpet in Colemere after going for a walk around the area the previous week.
"I'd been for a walk around Colemere last weekend and noticed there were a lot of leaves on the ground," he said. "I was there again on Thursday and nipped back to take some pictures.
"The same went for the berries in Colemere. As I was walking around I noticed just how many berries there were and took a few pictures.
He said that in the picture of the man on the barge, the leaves are still green on this stretch of the canal in October.
Temperatures in Shropshire and Mid Wales are expected to remain typical for the time of year over the next week. The mercury is not expected to rise above 13C (55F) in Shawbury, while temperatures in Welshpool will be nearer 11C (51F) for most of the week.
