Three-vehicle crash closes road on Shropshire border
[gallery] A three-car crash closed a main road between Shropshire and Mid Wales during rush hour.
The crash, involving a silver Vauxhall Astra, a white Toyota Hilux and a red Mini Cooper, happened on the A458 between Shrewsbury and Welshpool at Middletown.
The road was closed, close to a caravan park in the village, at around 2.20pm and did not fully reopen until 5.30pm to allow for recovery work and to make the scene safe.
There were no serious injuries, but the accident caused congestion for motorists in the area.
Catharine Jones, of Dyfed-Powys Police, said: "We were called to a road traffic collision involving three vehicles on the A458 Middletown to Welshpool road. The call was received at 2.23pm yesterday and ambulance assistance was requested to treat walking wounded.
"Diversions were put in place while the road was closed."
A spokeswoman for Mid & West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said two appliances from Welshpool were in attendance at the scene making the vehicles safe.
