The 19-year-old victim was walking along the ramp which leads from the station towards Ironmaster Way between 10am and 10.20am on Monday when he pulled out his Samsung S4 mobile phone to make a call.

As he looked at his phone he suddenly felt a blow to the back of his head on the left side, police said.

The next thing he remembers is coming round and realising that his mobile phone was nowhere to be seen.

He therefore believes it must have been stolen.

Chris Ammonds, a police spokesman said: "This is an unusual incident as the victim remembers very little about it at this stage.

"We are continuing to work with him but have been advised that it could be the shock of this incident that is making his recollection of it so vague.

"The man did attend hospital after this incident but he did not require any major medical treatment.

"Officers investigating this incident – who are currently looking for possible CCTV footage of it from cameras in the area - are very keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help them work out exactly what did happen.

"The incident occurred in broad daylight near a busy railway station so they are hopeful someone may have seen something that could aid their investigation."

Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to contact officers in CID in Telford as soon as they can on 101, quoting incident number 132S 111113.
