Plans for Ludlow tip are delayed

Plans to close an under-threat tip have been put off until the new year, it was revealed today.

A decision on the future of the Coder Road tip in Ludlow has been delayed to allow more people to have a say.

It comes after almost 2,000 people signed a petition calling for the centre to be preserved, claiming they would face a nine-mile round trip to Craven Arms to dispose of rubbish and recycling.

Council chiefs had been expected to make a final call on whether the site would be retained earlier this month following consultation throughout October.

They had previously claimed figures showed it was not used anywhere near as much as other sites in the county and also pointed to well-below average recycling rates.

A final decision on the site's future is now set to be made in January.
