Escape Hair and Beauty on Madeley High Street had damage of up to £1,500 caused by a gang which broke in and stole hair products and straighteners.

Flares Hairdressing, also on the High Street, was also the victim of an attempted burglary, where vandals kicked at their front door, until disturbed by the owner's husband, Paul Boden, 39.

At Escape, the thieves kicked down the front door and stole 20 bottles of Sebastian Shampoo, four Christmas packs of Sebastian products and six pairs of GHD hair straighteners. Both thefts happened over the weekend.

Gary Raybould, who also has a salon in Wellington, says the straighteners are highly coveted items at this time of year.

Mr Raybould said: "They literally kicked the door in and grabbed all the products that were on the shelves by the door, they didn't go inside because the alarm was going off."

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101, quoting 719S161113 for the robbery at Escape or 623S171113 for the attempted robbery at Flares.
