Fire engines from Bridgnorth and Ludlow were called to Burwarton, near Bridgnorth, at around 4.45pm yesterday, after a woodburner had burned out of control.

Chimney rods and other apparatus were used to tackle the fire at the home at Bright's Corner. The flames were contained within the chimney and thermal imaging equipment was used to check the fire hadn't spread.

Firefighters were also called to a property in Sandford Bridge, Newport, at around 8.45pm where they removed a log burner and carried out an inspection of the chimney.

Crews from Telford and Wellington were called to a house in Market Street, Oakengates, at 11.30pm, to deal with an electric cooker that caught fire.
