Car overturns as elderly driver dazzled by lights on Telford road
An elderly driver had a lucky escape when her car flipped over on a busy Telford road.
The woman was travelling along Holyhead Road in Wellington when she was apparently dazzled by lights and her Toyota Avensis ended up on its roof close to The Wickets pub.
She had to be released by firefighters but suffered no serious injuries.
The accident happened yesterday at about 4.40pm.
A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The accident involved an elderly woman who was dazzled by the lights. We used our equipment to put the car back on its wheels."
Inspector Andrew Smith, of West Mercia Police, said: "A female driver was removed from the vehicle. She was okay and declined any treatment."
There were delays in the area while police cleared debris. Drivers were diverted along Wrekin Road.
Two fire crews from Wellington Fire Station attended.
