£3,000 damage to cars as youths on rampage in Ironbridge

At least six cars were damaged as youths went on a rampage in Ironbridge, police said today.

About £3,000 damage was caused as the yobs broke wing mirrors and dented the vehicles.

The attack happened in Madeley Road, Jockey Bank and Wesley Road on Friday night.

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and has been released on police bail.

Police are now looking for the other people involved.

Chris Ammonds, a spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "On Friday we had reports of a number of youths acting suspiciously in the Ironbridge area.

"The following morning we had reports that a number of vehicles had been damaged.

"Wing mirrors were bashed off and there were dents in the side panels and scrapes along the side of the vehicles.

"We are keen to identify more of the individuals involved."

The cars included a Smart car, a Fiat 500 and a Fiat Punto.
