"Holidays are coming, holidays are coming . . . " is a jingle that's become as familiar as a Christmas carol thanks to Coca-Cola's huge advertising budget.

The Coca-Cola truck visited Telford Shopping Centre on Saturday on its UK tour.

The giant red lorry parked in the Red Oak car park from noon until 8pm, and hundreds queued to have their picture taken alongside it.

Excited children and equally excited grown-ups took their place in line, and in the first three hours, the Coca-Cola snapper had taken 330 pictures – but expected to take more than 1200 by the end of the day.

By 2pm the queue stretched for approximately 40 minutes, but with the truck blasting out Christmas tunes, everyone was happy to wait for their turn.

A spokesman for the global drinks giant said: "Once the lights go out, we expect the queue will triple. On average we get around 10,000 people per town or city. It's a beautiful day in Telford for it."

Jody Daley, 29, brought her two children Tia, six, and Tyler, four, from Much Wenlock. Tia said: "I really like the advert, I dance and sing when it comes on the TV."

Jody said: "I remember it from when I was a kid and its nice my children get excited by it too."

Tammy Walker, 34, brought Isabelle, six, and Jasmine, four, along. Tammy, also from Much Wenlock said: "When you see the advert you know it's nearly Christmas, it's great to see the lorry. It's iconic."

Barrie Walters from Shrewsbury brought his family of six to visit, including daughter in law Kaylee Hill and three year old granddaughter Amelia.

Kaylee said: "It's our favourite advert, you know it's officially Christmas now."

Tom Fryer, 26, and girlfriend Beccy Jones, 18, both work at Marks and Spencer and couldn't wait. Tom said: "I feel very festive, very excited to see the truck. It means Christmas is nearly here."

Sarah Wallbank, 32, from Dawley came along with daughter Lola, just 20 months.

Sarah said: "I used to be so excited by the adverts when I was younger, I wanted to share that with my daughter."

The Coca-Cola Christmas truck tour began on November 23, and will run across the UK until December 23.
