Shropshire wind turbines set for approval

Controversial plans to create two turbines in the Shropshire countryside have been recommended for approval despite fears the area is being turned into a giant windfarm.

Plans have been submitted to Shropshire Council to create a 150ft turbine at Kenwick Lodge Farm and a 161ft turbine at Top House farm, both in Cockshutt, near Ellesmere.

Both applications will be discussed by the council's north planning committee at a 2pm meeting on Tuesday.

The applicants say the turbines will be used to provide power for their farms and will be essential to their businesses.

Shropshire Council has received several letters of objections from local residents who are concerned about the number of wind turbine applications being submitted for the area.

Members of Cockshutt Cum Petton Parish Council have also objected to both schemes after raising concerns over the size of the turbines.

John Paul Jeffels, from Tetchill, said: "With all the other approved applications in this local area it is increasingly becoming more and more like a windfarm."
