Pretty Yvonne Walsh, 25, and seven-month-old Harrison, also known as Harry, were found dead at their home in Chells Grove, Billesley, Birmingham on June 2 this year.

Wesley Williams, 28, admitted two counts of murder during an emotional hearing at Birmingham Crown Court yesterday afternoon.

There was a gasp from the public gallery as Williams, wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a blue jumper, answered each charge when they were put to him by the court clerk.

Surrounded by three dock officers, he showed no emotion as he admitted killing Yvonne, a care home manager, and baby Harry, who both died from pressure to the neck.

After hearing his pleas members of the public who had crammed into the packed courtroom wept for the remainder of the 10-minute hearing.

Judge William Davis QC told Williams, from Billesley, Birmingham, to expect a life sentence with a 'substantial' minimum term.

He said: "You will be sentenced sometime next week.

"You, like everybody else will be told on Monday of the actual date.

"So evidently, because of your pleas you have entered, the judge will be obliged to send you to prison for life.

"Evidently, the minimum period you will have to serve will be very substantial, so that much you know already."

Judge Davis QC ordered Williams to be remanded in custody until his sentencing hearing.

Two hours before Williams appeared in court Yvonne's sister Tracey Walsh took to Facebook to plead with him to admit the killings.

Yvonne worked at a care home for vulnerable adults in Moseley, Birmingham, less than three miles from her home. .

She had been seeing Williams for around two months after she split from Harry's biological dad Ryan Watton.

Tragically, she described him as 'everything I want in a man' just weeks before he killed her.

The smitten mum texted pal Cara Merricks on April 12 this year and spoke of her excitement at her new relationship.

She wrote: "Found someone much better. He is amazing everything that I want and need in a man lol sounds so soppy if you know me lol x"Following the tragedy Harry's heartbroken father Ryan Watton posted tributes to his son on Facebook.

He wrote: "I feel so sick. My heart is empty and angry.

"I'm so sad at the moment. I love you Yvonne and Harry. I will carry you in my heart."

Williams had been arrested at an address in Oldbury before being charged with the murders.
