Bishop's Castle firefighters help rescue elderly man trapped in house

Firefighters were called to help paramedics gain access to a house in Shropshire after the elderly occupant had got himself trapped in the property.

One crew from Bishop's Castle station were called by the ambulance service to the property at Grange Road.

The firefighters were able to remove a small window to allow the paramedics access to the property to give treatment to the man.

The emergency services were called to the premises at 10.25pm last night and the fire crew spent nearly an hour at the property assisting the ambulance staff.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "It involved an elderly gentleman who had trapped in the property.

"The ambulance crew was already there and we had to remove a small window to allow access.

"Once the ambulance crew were in we left the scene and left them to give treatment."
