Carole May Joseph, 46, of Lon Gwern, Trehafren, Newtown, lost her job at the town's Control Techniques factory after a long period of ill health.

But she continued to harass former colleague Joanne Newbery and was placed on a 12-month restraining order by Welshpool Magistrates Court in July.

However, the court heard yesterday that she ignored the order and followed Miss Newbery in her car from outside the factory in Newtown up the A483 to Garthmyl.

Joseph appeared at the court yesterday where she admitted a charge of harassment in breaching a restraining order in August.

Magistrates gave her a 12 month community order with 12 months supervision and a mental health treatment requirement. She was also given a second 12-month restraining order banning her from contacting Miss Newbery and ordered to pay £85 costs.

Miss Ceri Edwards, for Joseph, said her client was sorry for her behaviour and she was now "over" the incident.

She said her client worked for the company for nine years and loved her job and was desperate to come back, but had now accepted it was not going to happen. She said her client, who is now wheelchair-bound, had suffered severe depression.
