Sainsbury's in Shrewsbury's Meole Brace Retail Park reported its busiest day of the year yesterday, with record takings.
Store manager Peter Briggs said that in just the three hours to 9am, the store had taken the equivalent of a normal Friday's takings.
At Telford's Donnington Wood Asda traffic the car park was full by 8.30am and traffic backed up towards Oakengates.
