Water shipped in to Craven Arms after supply issue

Water was shipped in on Christmas Eve to keep taps running in Craven Arms.

A 'supply issue' in the town meant teams from Severn Trent Water worked around the clock to make sure the water kept flowing.

Water was brought into the area in tankers, then pumped directly into pipes at Diddlebury waterworks on Christmas Eve morning.

Sarah O'Kane, speaking for Severn Trent Water, said: "I'd imagine nobody noticed any difference, except that there might have been a slight change in pressure as the tankers put the water in." She said a burst water pipe in a field near Burwood to the north east of the town on Monday night was unrelated.

The leak had left six customers without water on Monday night, but they were given bottled water and the problem was fixed on Christmas Eve.

Speaking on the day, Simon Brown, water services operations manager said: "We know how important it is to have a reliable water supply, especially over the festive period, and we'd like to reassure our customers that we're here to help with any water or sewage issues."
