The B4373 Ironbridge Road in Jackfield remains closed as investigations continue into what caused the hole on Boxing Day.
Nigel Newman, a spokesman for Telford & Wrekin Council, said the repair work would not start until the cause was established.
Driver James Cawley, of Priorslee, Telford, pulled over to alert other motorists after his car was damaged by the crater, which is around three feet wide and more than five feet deep.
