Five arrested over Shrewsbury retail park burglary
Five men in their 20s have been arrested on suspicion of burglary following an incident at Shrewsbury's Meole Brace Retail Park.
The men, aged between 20 and 25, were arrested at about 1.40am yesterday on the retail park on the outskirts of the town.
They have been released on bail as police continue their inquiries.
Police said the group had been spotted on CCTV acting suspiciously and had fled the scene when officers arrived.
Inspector Lucy Sewell of West Mercia Police, said: "We were called to reports of people attempting to break into a storage container at the back of the Meole Brace Retail Park."
Richard Ewels, a spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "Five men, aged between 20 and 25, were arrested by police on Meole Brace Retail Park during the early hours of yesterday after being spotted acting suspiciously by CCTV cameras.
"Officers attended and the suspects fled but five were quickly arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of burglary."
