Former AFC Telford player Kris Taylor diagnosed with cancer
Former AFC Telford United footballer Kris Taylor has been diagnosed with cancer, it emerged today.
Kris Taylor, 30, was diagnosed on Friday – and then went on to score for his current team, Hednesford Town, a day later.
He decided to play for the Pitmen at the weekend and scored in the 1-1 draw with Altrincham.
He took to Twitter to describe it as the "hardest game" he had played in. He is set to undergo an operation on Thursday.
The father, from Cannock, started his career with Wolves before being signed by Manchester United as a 14-year-old for £200,000. He has also played for Walsall.
He signed with AFC Telford United in 2012, and was loaned out to Hednesford Town last year. His move to Hednesford was later made permanent.
Supporters are planning applause and songs in support of the player during the clash with Solihull on February 15.
