More wet and windy weather on the way for Shropshire
[gallery] Shropshire was braced for another drenching today with more wet and windy weather forecast to pile on the misery.
In Ironbridge, the flood barriers on The Wharfage were being removed this afternoon, with the road due to open to traffic again by 4.30pm.
In Shrewsbury the Frankwell Main car park is now part open with approx two-thirds of the spaces available, while Riverside remains closed. Conditions may change overnight
The flood barriers in Shrewsbury and Ironbridge were put up last week and the county was hit by further rain, along with winds of up to 50mph on Saturday.
In Shrewsbury one lane is closed at Coleham Head next to the English Bridge to allow for water pumping from the swollen River Severn.
Today, Sydney Avenue and Gravel Hill Lane were still closed in both directions in the town as is Burma Road in Park Hall, Oswestry, and the B5398 Waymills road in Whitchurch. And while the flood barriers remain in place, The Wharfage in Ironbridge is closed to cars.
The Met Office said that today's showers will be followed by heavy rain and very strong winds moving northwards across the UK from tomorrow night and through much of Wednes- day, with winds easing off on Thursday.
Events were also disrupted across Shrewsbury over the weekend due to flooding, including a car boot sale that was meant to take place at the West Mid Showground.
Shrewsbury Park Run went ahead, but runners were forced to take a different route due to flooding under the Kingsland Bridge.
The sister event in Telford was cancelled late on due to icy conditions, after a volunteer reportedly slipped on a path while setting up the course.
Not all was lost though, after a 40th birthday party went ahead at The Boathouse pub in New Street, Shrewsbury, despite the threat of flooding to the function room.
