Rare £2.5k cycle stole in series of Telford shed raids
A rare bike, electric lawnmower and power tools were among items stolen in a series of shed break-ins in Telford.
Police today warned that a gang appeared to be operating in the town, targeting sheds that have not been secured properly.
The unusual bright green bike had the name Santa Cruz Nomad on it with white forks and 10 gears. It has a dent in the top tube and is valued at about £2,500.
It was taken from a shed at Kynnersley between 7pm and 6am on Sunday.
Sometime on the same day, a shed in Spring Meadow, Sutton Hill, was targeted and a black and blue electric mower was stolen. And between 11pm on Sunday and 4.30am on Monday, a shed was broken into at Woollam Road, Arleston.
A number of tools were taken including a silver and black pro job power saw in its black case, a black and yellow jigsaw in a black case and a black and yellow box full of tools, which were valued at over £300.
Also stolen were a heavy duty breaker drill valued at £230, a Black & Decker hammer drill worth £47, a socket set worth £27 and a large 67-piece socket set worth £85, plus a jigsaw power pro valued at £44.
The raids were among several thefts in the area. Officers say others may have gone unreported, or victims may not even realise they have been hit if they have not checked their sheds during the recent poor weather.
Other thefts included a green Kawasaki ZX600 taken from a garage in Boughey Road, Newport, on Sunday. The machine has a registration number LM08VFU.
A vehicle was also broken into on Sunday in London Road, St Georges. A digicard and digital tachograph was stolen, along with a company cheque book, a sat-nav and some tools. Anyone with information about the thefts should call Telford police on the non-emergency 101 line.
