Teenagers get Bishop's Castle school honour

A new head boy and head girl have been appointed at a school in south Shropshire.

A-level students Shane Davies and Naomi Jones are the two latest incumbents of the prestigious titles at Bishop's Castle Community College.

Head boy Shane, who lives near Clun, is currently studying Maths, Further Maths and Biology at the college in Brampton Road.

He hopes to study maths at university.

New head girl Naomi is studying Business, PE and Biology and hopes to go on to study Primary Education at university.

This year their appointed deputies are Jonathan Rees and Lucy Burns, both Year 11 students.

Lucy is from Hopton Heath and is planning to have a gap year after finishing her studies next year while Jonathan also, from Hopton Heath, has ambitions of becoming a barrister after his university years.

A spokesman for the school said: "We would like to congratulate Shane and Naomi, as well as Jonathan and Lucy, on their appointments.

"We are sure they will serve the school with distinction and pride over the coming year."

The school caters for children aged from 11 to 18 and has a wide intake from more than 20 primary schools in and around Bishop's Castle.
