Driver suffers serious injuries in Oswestry collision

A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash near Oswestry.

West Mercia Police said it is appealing for information to the crash in which another man was also injured when their car left the road on the B5069 St Martins to Overton Road.

The green Citroen Xsara the men were in left the road and crashed into a hedge at 7.30pm on Friday.

Both the driver and passenger were trapped in the badly damaged vehicle for a short time.

The 21-year-old driver was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with serious injuries. His condition has been described as stable. The passenger was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision or the car being driven shortly beforehand.

Investigations into the circumstances are continuing and anyone who can assist should contact Oswestry or Shrewsbury police stations on the non-emergency 101 number.
