Brothers Jamie, Daniel and Matthew Churm can’t wait to have a go on Telford Town Park’s new fun course

A 12-hole adventure golf course opened in Telford Town Park today, the latest investment in the popular visitor haunt.

All ages and abilities will be able to play the fun course, which includes a water feature and other innovative obstacles such as a miniature Iron Bridge.

The new course – which is built on the site of the old Heather Gardens – overlooks the existing play areas and the £250m Southwater development.

The golf course is the latest attraction to open in the 450-acre park, following on from a new high ropes course, the opening of the new Town Park visitor centre, water play area, sensory garden and play area.

Councillor Liz Clare, cabinet member for leisure services and culture, said: "The adventure golf course is a fantastic addition to the Town Park which is slowly being transformed into an inclusive all-purpose leisure area for all the family through imaginative planning and significant investment.

"The aim is to attract all ages and abilities, who can all face the challenge of making it round the course together.

"The Town Park was already one of the jewels in Telford's crown, it is now becoming the perfect outdoor leisure venue to complement the nearly-completed £250m Southwater development and the soon-to-start revamp of Telford Shopping Centre."

Telford Loyalty Card holders can get reduced half-term family tickets to play the course until Sunday.

The adventure golf course has been designed and built by Swedish firm City Golf Europe AB.

It will open each day from 10am and costs £5 for adults and £3.50 for children. Family tickets will normally cost £15, with big discounts for half-term week.
