The Oswestry and District Arts Association and Oswestry Sports Council told a meeting of St Oswald and Llanymynech LJC, in Knockin, that the loss of the funding was worrying.

Shropshire Council's director for commissioning, George Candler told the meeting the future of the local joint committees was not yet clear. but that there would be a role for them.

He said future groups could include not only the county and parish council but also the local youth board, fire and police representatives and the health and voluntary sectors.

He said Shropshire Council was looked at the possibility of devolving some of its powers and budget to the committees: "That could for example involve the Community Infrastruture Fund, money developers pay for building houses."
