Chris and Carol Hill, of Hill’s Butchers, say they want to bring a quality service to Wellington and stock only local meat

Hill's Butchers, in Duke Street, Wellington, has been given a makeover since Chris and Carol Hill took over the shop from Darren Morgan on New Year's Day.

The shop has been used as a butcher's for more than 50 years and Mr Hill said he wanted to carry on offering a quality service. He said: "I have worked here before for Darren Morgan, and our assistant Steve Price has been here for 14 years.

"It's something I have been looking at for some time. I still think people are coming back to shopping local and I am passionate about that. We just want to give really good service to Wellington. It's nice that we are now running our own business."

There is a preparation area upstairs where sausages and burgers are made, and downstairs there is a cutting area for fresh meat and the shop itself. "All the meat is local," said Mr Hill.

Mr Hill, 51, and his wife Carol, 56, have lived in Wellington for the past seven years. He has been in the trade for more than 30 years.
