Moortown, near Wellington, will be the first opening of the year on Sunday and will be opening early to allow visitors to enjoy the snowdrops.

"The garden is awash with snowdrops and other spring colour at this time of year," said Allison Walter, from the NGS in Shropshire.

"Owner, David Bromley, has planted the garden in a lovely relaxed style – in his words it's 'controlled confusion'. This really is a delightful garden to visit, especially at snowdrop time."

Moortown can be found on the B5062, five miles north of Wellington, between High Ercall and Crudgington. The garden will be open from 2pm to 5pm. Admission is £5 for adults and £1 for children. Afternoon teas will also be available.
