Volunteers from Harper Adams University joined residents at a recent litter pick around the town.

Together they cleared about 3,000 pieces of rubbish and bottles from Norbroom Park, Shuker Field, High Street, St Mary's Street, the Co-op car park and Victoria Park.

Litter pick co-ordinator Councillor Peter Scott said: "It is great to see the community coming together like this to do this important work."

Volunteers meet each month to clear rubbish from around Newport. Contact Councillor Scott on 07929 377549 to get involved.
