Appeal after cyclist injured in Shropshire
A witness appeal has been launched following a serious crash between a cyclist and a car on a busy Shropshire road.
A 46-year-old female cyclist was airlifted to hospital after she was thrown 10 feet into the air following the crash with a blue Ford Ka on the A495 between Ellesmere and Oswestry on Sunday.
The woman was injured on a steep stretch of the road known as The Brow, near The Brow Golf Club, at around 10.50am.
She was initially knocked unconscious and was cared for by a first aider while the ambulance arrived. Paramedics treated her for a cut to the head and a dislocated thumb and took her to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in case of any further head injury. The driver did not require hospital treatment.
It is thought the car was heading west along the A495 intending to turn right into an unclassified lane. The cyclist was travelling in the opposite direction towards Ellesmere.
Witnesses are asked to contact Oswestry police station by calling 101.
