Shropshire Military Wives helping to raise cash for little Rowan, aged six
Military wives will be amongst the performers at a special concert being held to raise funds for a seriously ill boy.
The Shawbury Military Wives Choir will be joined by their colleagues from Cosford Military Wives Choir at a concert taking place tomorrow to raise funds for Rowan Reardon from Wem.
The event is being held at St Peter's and St Paul's Church in Wem in aid of the six-year-old who was born 10 weeks premature with severe brain damage.
The youngster also suffers from cerebral palsy, has no mobility and requires specialist equipment for all activities.
Initially his parents Paul and Sharon were told Rowan wouldn't live beyond his third birthday. Today Rowan is a happy six-year-old but his parents know something as simple as a common cold could end his life.
Also performing in the concert, which starts at 7pm, will be Wem Jubilee Band and the Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir.
Sarah Tetlow, from the Rowan Reardon Fund, said: "We are delighted that the very talented Shawbury Military Wives Choir and the Cosford Military Wives Choir will be performing to raise funds to help Rowland.
"Also taking to the stage will be the equally talented Wem Jubilee Band and the Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir so this really is going to be a concert to remember. Rowan's family can provide the support he needs but they need help financially especially with Rowan growing as he is in desperate need of specialised therapy sessions and specialised equipment."
Mrs Reardon said: "Our main aim is to give Rowan the best quality of life we can and make sure he has everything he needs. This all comes at a cost however, both financially and emotionally. We can deal with the emotions, but we are struggling with the financial side."
Tickets for the concert are available on the evening priced at £10 which includes a free hot drink. Doors open at 6.30pm.
