As a result police are putting on extra patrols in Sutton Hill following other offences.

Last night's robbery on Severn Walk happened just before 7pm as the 18-year-old woman made her way towards the underpass at the entrance to Sutton Hill.

Without warning, the man suddenly pulled out a small knife, waved it at the victim and demanded her Apple iPhone 5.

The victim did not immediately hand the phone over and at this point the man grabbed it before then demanding money too.

She said she did not have any but the offender then grabbed her bag, reached into it and stole her purse from inside.

The offender is described as being white, as being in his mid 20s, between 5ft 7 and 5ft 11inches tall and as having a medium build. He is also described as wearing a black hooded top and what looked like a home made balaclava.

Anyone who has information about this incident, especially anyone who may know the identity of the offender, is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 589S 250314.

Alternatively, if you would rather leave information anonymously call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
