Telford rape trial is told of kiss
A man out with a woman the night that she was allegedly raped in Telford went home early after he saw her kiss someone else on the dance floor, a court heard.
David Hayfield rowed with the woman and punched a door after seeing her kiss another man at Thomas Botfield pub in Telford Town Centre before deciding to go home. He told Shrewsbury Crown Court the two had spent several weeks texting each other and flirted and kissed during the evening.
The 19-year-old woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, suffered two epileptic seizures when she was later attacked near Telford International Centre in the early hours of July 27 last year.
Andrius Grikpedis, 34, of Turreff Avenue, Donnington, and 29-year-old Tomas Paplauskas, of no fixed address, each deny two charges of rape.
The prosecution alleged that there was DNA evidence linking the two men with the rapes and CCTV showed they were in the area at the time.
Mr Hayfield, giving evidence yesterday, said: "She went to dance and I saw her kissing another man. I was cross and went to leave. She followed me and we had a row. I punched a door while we were arguing and I decided to go home."
The trial continues.
